Dev Diary #2. Dodging Bullets


Two months have passed since the last dev diary entry. Today I will tell you what has been done in that time.

Another Nightmare

I keep working on another Yuha's Nightmare. The second dream in the episode takes place in a spacious flat. The building it is in has been damaged by war and time. The flat has inherited the features of St Petersburg communal flats and it is furnished eclectically. There is hardly any furniture or objects left in here. It could have been removed by the owners to a new location or stolen by looters.

Whatever the case, we don't have much time to consider the fate of the place's former occupants. We have to save ourselves! The house is under fire from all sides, with bullets flying through the windows every now and then. Yuha doesn't have a gun, she can't shoot back, but she can duck or crawl to dodge bullets.

Over the last few months, I've been finalizing the architecture of the floor where the action takes place, designing the spaces, choosing wallpapers for the rooms and tiles for the bathroom 🙂 I almost chose the basic textures for all rooms and I have to detail it with decals. Then I will improve the atmosphere and flavor of the game.

3,14 Floor

This month wasn't really productive. I had to travel a lot and work on side projects to help Yuha's Nightmares get a new audience. For example,
Last month I made a little machinima based on the dream «Hurried escape». It shows a 2.5 minute wander through the corridors of a glitchy high-rise, from which Yuha has difficulty escaping in the game. I shot quite a bit of footage to create this clip, and I slowly tweeting it out (subscribe btw).
